From the box to the plate, and back again.
Growing is a loop, not an event. This is every stage of it — what you do, what the system does, and what happens when a cycle does not go to plan.
Unbox, place, pair.
Choose a spot with counter clearance to open the door and a standard outlet nearby. Download the app, create an account, and pair the device over your home Wi-Fi.
Pairing is a one-time step. If the device cannot find the network, the app walks through the failure rather than showing an error code.
Scan a tray and place it inside.
Every seed tray carries a code. Scanning it tells the system which crop is going in and which position it occupies, and loads that crop's growing recipe automatically.
There are no parameters to set. If you place a tray without scanning it, the app asks before the cycle starts.
About seven days of automated growing.
The system manages the light schedule and spectrum, irrigation, nutrient dosing, airflow, temperature and humidity, adjusting as the crop moves through germination, canopy and harvest readiness.
Most days you do nothing. The app shows the live view and the current stage; it notifies you only when something actually needs a person — most often refilling water.
Cycle lengths quoted across this site (roughly 6–10 days depending on crop) are ranges observed in internal testing on current hardware. They are not guarantees, and they vary with crop, ambient conditions and tray.
Harvest what the meal needs.
Open the door, cut above the growing medium with scissors, rinse, and eat. Mark the harvest in the app if you want the cycle recorded.
You do not have to harvest a whole tray at once. Cutting a portion leaves the rest growing.
Clean, then start the next tray.
Between cycles, remove the spent tray, rinse the removable parts and wipe the growing surface. Refill the tank, scan a new tray, and the loop starts again.
Cleaning between cycles is the single maintenance habit the system depends on. It is a few minutes, and it is not optional.
Cycles fail. The system should say so.
Seeds can germinate unevenly, a tray can dry out, a network can drop, a crop can be left past its window. The app is designed to name the problem, say whether it is urgent, and give the next step.
If a tray smells sour, feels slimy, or shows fuzzy growth on the stems, do not eat it — discard the tray, clean the surfaces, and start again.
Luya X-1 manages the growing environment; it does not eliminate the possibility of a failed cycle. Any claim that a controlled environment prevents mould entirely would be false.
